Made from 100% Tempranillo from Spain's Toro region, Numanthia is a potent and full-bodied red with aromas of cassis, blackberry, cedar, spice and coffee. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, it serves up rich flavours of blackberry, chocolate and spice, leaving a long and memorable finish. Powerful, layered and complex, it is enjoyable immediately but will also reward 10 years' cellaring.

Tasting Notes:

NOSE: This intensely aromatic wine displays black fruit, particularly blueberry and black currant, accompanied by notes of fig and sweet cream pastries. Hints of black pepper and clove add spice to the toasted hazelnut aromas.

TASTE: An intense, robust and vivacious wine with phenomenal structure. Impressive fruit expression together with perfectly ripened tannins lead to a meaty mouthfeel. A long and persistent Finish of tobacco leaves and balsamic notes highlight the complexity and handcrafted character of this wine.

Food Pairing

Food Pairing:

Numanthia’s power and intensity call for robustly flavored dishes not easily overwhelmed. Meat, whether roasted or in a distinctive sauce, is a natural match while Peking Duck likewise complements the wine’s body and texture. Rich local cheeses such as Zamorano also go well with Numanthia.
Castilian cooking majors on roasted meats, especially lamb. For an authentic combination, why not pair Numanthia with cordero asado, lamb cooked in an oven in a traditional way.
