DESCRIPTION

"Calon" meaning little river skiff used in Middle Ages to ferry timber across the Gironde estuary, gave name to the district which was at one point known as Calones or Saint-Estèphe-de-Calon. By marriage, the estate came to be owned by Nicolas-Alexandre, marquis de Ségur who also owned Chateau Latour and Chateau Lafite.

Tasting Notes:

The rich, supple textures that are often the signature of the vintage are peeking through. The fruits are ripe, the tannins are polished and the Nose is already adding a bit of secondary nuance. Give this until it hits between 12-15 years of age, and it should be even better than expected.
