The Quintessence is a 30 year old Cognac which has been made using fruit grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides, and matured in un-toasted French oak casks - two characteristics Léopold Gourmel is known for. Sitting at the top end of their range, this ought to be an absolutely incredible expression.

Tasting Notes:

Big, bold spice rises first, though it keeps the floral and nutty qualities the range's other expressions have possessed. Spiced apple, orange zest, caramel and rancio.
