AOC: Vin de Pays du Gard
The wine country is called Gard, known before as Vin de Pays du Gard, with the new name IGP in August 1, 2009. This is a departmental wine whose production is slightly less than the wine country of Herault. This designation includes wines from the area classified independently based on their soil and climate.
Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the south and by the foothills of the Massif Central to the north, the area is rocky with clay-limestone soils of the Quaternary. Since Roman times, the vine has been marked by culture and history.
