French Wine Regions

Vallée de la Loire (mainly white wine).
This region located in the north west of France is famous for wines such as Muscadet, Saumur, Coteaux du Layon, Chinon and Sancerre.


Bordeaux (mainly red wine).
This is the most important and famous wine producing region. It is located in the south west of France. Among the wines of this region are: Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint Emilion, Sauterne and Chateau Margaux.


South West (red and white wine).
This region produces wines such as Monbazillac, Saussignac, Bergerac, Gaillac and Cahors. Languedoc Rousillon (red wine and rosé). This region is located in the very south of France. It produces wines such as Coteaux du Languedoc, Côtes du Rousillon and Minervois.


Côtes du Rhone (mainly red wine).
This region situated in the south east of France is well known for wines such as Châteauneuf du Pape and Côtes du Ventoux.


Provence (red whine and rosé).
Provence is a very popular region located in the south east of France. It produces wines such as Côtes de Provence and Bandol.


Bourgogne (red and white wine).
This region is located in the east of France and produces a great variety of wines but is mostly famous for its Beaujolais, Chablis and Romanée Conti.


Champagne.
Champagne is the most famous and renowned sparking wine in the world and originates from this region in the north east of France. Alsace (mainly white wine). This region of the north east of France produces wines such as Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Muscat and Crémant d’Alsace.
