DESCRIPTION

Alexandrine Roy is a name to watch out for. She is the fourth generation Roy to head the estate, taking over from her father, the eponymous Marc Roy. The estate itself was founded by her great-grandfather, with just a few parcels of vines in Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy.

With a dark cherry color, the Marc Roy Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Village is an elegant medium-bodied wine. It’s made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes taken from vines of older than 50 years from Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy, France. It has an ABV of 13.5%, and is counted among the top one percent of wines in the world.

Balanced and filled with fresh acidity, it has perfumed aromas of ripe red and black fruits. It’s refined on the palate, with pure fruity notes, spicy notes, and fine tannins.

The Marc Roy Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Village is great to enjoy with ripe cheeses like Epoisses, a braised beef in a rich sauce, roast lamb or roast duck, or just a very good steak. If you want to continue on enjoying this through dessert, it’s wonderful with chocolate-covered strawberries, or a dark chocolate cake.
