Joseph Mellot - Domaine Des Mariniers - Pouilly-Fumé | French White Wine

The Mellots have been a force in winemaking in the Loire Valley since 1513; today, Joseph Mellot is the only estate that owns vineyards in all the appellations of the region. Producing fine wines from Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Pouilly-sur-Loire, Coteaux du Giennois, Menetou Salon, Quincy, Reuilly and Chateaumeillant, Domain Joseph Mellot is an ambassador for the wines of the Central Loire Valley. Under the leadership of Catherine Corbeau Mellot, the estate is now committed to sustainable development, using sustainable agricultural methods to tend its vines. This wine is from a single estate, Domaine des Mariniers, run by Mellot that produces an impressively ripe style of Sauvignon Blanc. As with all of the Joseph Mellot estates, the vines are cultivated according to the principles of sustainable (integrated) viticulture. Youthful right now with exuberant citrus and other white fruits, it has not only this fruity character but also the mineral notes that are specific to the flinty soils of Pouilly-Fumé.
