Description

The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch #1 is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky, introduced in 2014 as the successor to the acclaimed Tun 1401 series. Crafted under the guidance of Malt Master David C. Stewart, this expression showcases The Balvenie's dedication to traditional craftsmanship and exceptional quality.

Composition and Maturation:
For this inaugural batch, 42 casks were meticulously selected: 35 traditional American oak barrels and 7 European oak sherry butts. These casks were married together in the distillery's Tun 1509, a larger vessel located in Warehouse 24, allowing the diverse flavors to harmonize over several months.

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
Floral honey, apple drops, fresh vanilla, and a touch of treacle.

TASTE:
Candied orange peels, crumbly shortbread, cinnamon, and oak notes, with a superb mouthfeel that's effortlessly mouth-coating.

FINISH:
Raisins, citrus, and cracked black pepper.
